Position: Research & Communications Intern, International Anti-Corruption Court
The deleterious effects of corruption on human rights, public health, climate change, and international peace and security are well-known. Against this sobering background the Integrity Initiatives International (III, pronounced “triple I”) is catalyzing and coordinating an international campaign for the creation of an International Anti-Corruption Court (IACC). The proposal is generating strong support including from a host of world leaders, and the Dutch and Canadian governments have both included in their foreign policies working with international partners to establish the IACC.
On April 11, the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Wopke Hoekstra told his European counterparts of his commitment to champion the creation of an IACC. III is now working closely with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prepare for a ministerial conference that Netherlands, Canada, Ecuador, and other partners will hold in late 2022 on international efforts to combat corruption, with a particular focus on the IACC. To facilitate this work, III is in the process of establishing a Foundation (stichting) in the Netherlands.
Hosted by the Hague Municipality’s directorate of International Affairs, III is looking for an intern to help with the establishment of the foundation. The intern will be recruited via the Municipality of The Hague. The intern will work from the Humanity Hub, a vibrant space and network for organizations and professional working towards a better world, but you will also have access to work from the offices at City Hall.
Wat ga je doen?
· Serve as the point of contact for Dutch civil society actors interested in the IACC and the campaign to establish it.
· Assist with arrangements for IACC related events.
· Contribute to the planning and execution of the media strategy for the IACC campaign, including translation into Dutch and English.
· Assist the III team with research on international law and relations themes that may be needed as it supports the Dutch MFA's preparations for the ministerial conference in late 2022.
· Prepare for the launch of a III Foundation.
· Scan the Dutch and European funding landscape and identify potential donors/sources.
· Assist with scheduling and preparations of board meetings for the new III Foundation once it is in established.
Wat vragen wij?
· Student at post graduate (MA) level or end stages of under graduate (BA) level, preferably in the field of International Law, International Relations, or related.
· Strong English and native Dutch language abilities
· Excellent communication skills
· Interest in communications and media
· Experience in organizing events
